The sauna has been a key element in the Finnish culture for over 3000 years.
Finns go to the sauna at the very least on a weekly basis, and the diversity of this
tradition is larger than it might seem at first glance. From the Savusauna (smoke sauna)
to the Sähkösauna (electric Sauna), through the Wood stove Sauna, here everyone gets
to enjoy their own way of the sauna! Nowadays, there are even mobile saunas built in
cars or buses.
Moreover, as part of the eastern sauna tradition, one can at times find a postsauna massage called “Banya broom”, which we offer you here. Let’s find out what it is
below.
This activity mostly consists in whipping one’s body with freshly cut wet small
branches from Burch tree. After a couple times in the sauna (it is necessary that your
body warms up beforehand!), the “ба́нщик” will hit you with these branches in a perfectly
safe way for about 10 minutes to achieve a deep relaxation of both body and mind.
A pot of tea and cookies are also included in the price.
